Taking a bit longer to absorb, sort or hold onto spoken words or written text.

Difficulty with reading, writing and spelling is never a measure of a child's intelligence — it is simply a reflection of how their brain processes language. Yet when these literacy barriers mask a child's natural curiosity, everyday learning can quickly become an uphill struggle.
If this sounds familiar, your child is far from alone. According to the British Dyslexia Association, around 10% of the UK population is dyslexic. It is entirely possible for a bright, inquisitive child to understand complex ideas effortlessly while finding it difficult to read, write or demonstrate that knowledge on paper.
At Ditton Dyslexia, I believe in looking beyond the struggle to understand the individual. I nurture each child's natural strengths and provide the targeted tools they need to overcome literacy and confidence barriers.
